Find a Golf Course

You want to start by searching for a golf course to host your event. After all, you can’t play golf without the turf, so this should be your first step in the planning process. Make sure to start looking early; most courses tend to book up months in advance. Look for courses that have reasonable fees and a fair contract. Making a budget will help you stay on track and figure out how much you want to spend on the venue to save for other items you may need.

Create a list of your top courses and compare to see which one works best for you and your event. When discussing a booking with your potential golf course, make sure to have your questions prepared in advance so you don’t miss anything that would be important to you. “Are there additional fees, how much for catering services, the procedure for parking, etc.?”

Tournament Style

Next steps choose what type of golfing tournament you want to hold and how many players will participate. If you are holding a charity event, the scramble is the most popular. It is also the best option if you want more of the social aspect than the competition and individual scores.

There are various styles of the tournament to choose from, which can make it more challenging to choose the right one to suit the event. An essential factor is that you want your golfers to have fun! Selecting a format with minimum rules may be the best idea, Hosting a Golf Event 101

Weather

Most of this event will be planned according to how you want it, but one thing you can’t change or predict is Mother Nature. She tends to have a mind of her own and can gift you with sunshine and blue skies or rain and thunderstorms. You want to keep in mind that weather may affect your outdoor event. When booking your course, look at their cancellation policy. You want to be able to cancel or postpone your event in case of bad weather.

Welcome Gifts

Everyone loves gifts. They are a great way to show gratitude for one’s attendance and participation. Make sure to have welcome gifts for your players. A smart idea is to use custom company hats, golf balls, a complimentary beverage, or anything that matches your event and theme.

This creative experience will increase the chances of these players returning for a future event. In addition, it will help them to remember the event. Planning these items ahead of time will give you the time to design, print, and make changes if need be.

We wish you the best of luck in your planning process, and make sure to have fun too! After all the planning, you deserve it!
